Best of the Week #35

If It's been a busy week! Thank God for my new favorite website that plays white noise into your ears all day for free. (Yep, that may be the most boring thing I've ever liked...sorry...but it is useful when sharing office space!)

And because I've been busy, Best of the Week will be brief...

Last night the second annual LOTR Nerd Fest concluded with a viewing of Return of the King in super extended version blu-ray (4 1/2 hours!). We had orc-themed food: blue cheese and crackers (i.e. moldy things), and Mt. Doom brownies (super dark chocolate and walnuts, like the dark and rocky road up the mountain). No wonder I'm exhausted!

My most popular post this week was the Pudgy Cake again, because it was just that awesome.

Watch this movie. It prompts you to enter the address of where you grew up at the beginning - definitely do it! The Wilderness Downtown by Arcade Fire.

Shout out to The JavaCupcake, who put my Raspberry Filled Cupcakes in her paper!

Have you seen Machine Gun Preacher yet? It's controversial, but I agree with Blattman's post on it.
Nonetheless, before you hate on Childers, I will ask you to hate on Kampala and Khartoum. I will ask you to hate on the Security Council, four American Presidents, and a still inept International Criminal Court. And, more importantly, we should all hate a little on ourselves.
Caramel Filled Apples? Yes please. (source)]

Back when I worked at NatGeo (it feels like so long ago!), I worked a bit on this show - cool! Real live jousting, like A Knights Tale (awesome movie, judge me accordingly) but for reals!

McSweeny's reminds us, "It's Decorative Gourd Season, M^%#$*^%$#*'s." Inappropriate, but hilarious, as they all are.
I may even throw some multi-colored leaves into the mix, all haphazard like a crisp October breeze just blew through and f#$@$* that s*#@# up.
And speaking of October, Serious Eats taunts me with all this deliciousnessFall Comfort Foods We Love Eating. Want want want! Pumpkin Chili whaatt???

If you're on Facebook (as everyone except 6x6 is) check this out - Step Up for 1502! Like it now, the campaign starts on Monday, and more images and cool stuff will be added through the week.

This picture was on a coworkers email. I have no idea where it's from or why it was there, but I like it!

Happy weekend!!!

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JESS!!!
May it be one filled with friends and fun and frosting! :)
